Equipment - Golite Cave 1 Shelter
A tarp by any other name - effectively describes the Cave. The major difference between the Cave tarp and other tarps is the addition of beaks on both ends of the tarps. The beaks, or overhangs, provide an extra measure of protection from wind-driven rain during inclement weather. Side anchor points at mid-wall on each side of the Cave also help to expand the interior space of the Cave. The down side to this shelter is the numerous guy lines. This often increases the likelihood of guy line entanglements and hiker frustration when trying to pitch this shelter. However, this is a small factor in that does not detract from an excellent shelter choice. I own and use this shelter when not using a poncho for primary shelter. |
