"Don't be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Equipment - Mountainsmith Ghost

Solid pack, marginal weight, bullet proof construction, and a hip belt. What more do you need?

Prior to getting the Golite Breeze, I seriously considered purchasing this pack. Slightly larger in size than the Golite Breeze, the Mountainsmith Ghost uses an internal polymer stay to add additional support to the pack. Really a lightweight frame of sorts.

If I were going to thru-hike the Appalachian Train, PCT, or another long distance trek, I would seriously consider using this pack. It should comfortably carry loads in the low 20 pounds, like a base load with 10 days of food for example.

Backpacker Magazine staff and editors really seem to like this pack as well. And with good reason. A solid buy.

I purchased this pack in May 2003 to use on Weekend trips. The Golite Breeze now serves in a backup role. Why the switch? Comfort is the primary reason.
